Introduction

The purpose of this research is to address that how rapidly and effectively Search Engine Marketing is growing in United Kingdom.The research investigate to find that if Google is the best available solution for Search Engine marketers. Google is changing the traditional Search engine marketing model and its success is not only a threat to rivals such as yahoo and MSN but its challenging the more traditional marketing world. In this research work author explore the consumer behaviours and common practices by marketers to prove some scientifically formulate hypotheses. These hypotheses further helped to analyse market trends. The study emphasize on United Kingdom market although most of the findings can be generalized.

Radio, Television and other Electronic tools have been here for many years to help marketers to do their job more efficiently, but new media like internet, mobile phones and interactive TV has brought new interesting and innovative dimensions to marketing. E-marketing has been a very hot topic in marketing since the invention of Internet. E-marketing is actually traditional marketing using the information technology but with some changes in basic strategic model. Internet is rapidly changing medium, which makes E-marketing a constantly expanding topic. Studies show that in United Kingdom, Consumer spend more time on internet than watching Television, thousands of home users are buying broadband every week. With millions of people online in UK, it is easy to see the importance of E-marketing. There are still misconceptions among the marketers about the e-marketing, e-business, internet marketing, and e-commerce. Author investigates the available literature to differentiate various terms

Search engines are the most popular web applications. It’s a web site which scans the web for user’s keyword and returns the list of websites that might have the desired results. Search engine Marketing or Search marketing is one of the hottest topics in marketing world. Simply search marketing is act of marketing a website via search engines. United Kingdom has a rapidly growing search market; Research shows that search Market could worth more than couple of billions pounds at the end of 2006. The reason behind fast growth is simply more and more marketers are recognising the benefits and importance of Search Marketing. This research addresses that how search marketing is progressing in United Kingdom market.

Google is on of the most recognised brand names in the world. It’s the most famous Search Engine on the Internet. Google increased profits for the first quarter of 2006 and already have a big effect on world of e-marketing. Google is the leading player in search marketing. Since the introduction of ‘Ad words’ in 2002, Google has captured massive market share in online marketing sector. In United kingdom Google is facing less competition than United States, so there impact on online and traditional marketing is huge. This research investigates into the factors of Google’s growth in UK and the competitive advantage they have over competition. The author believes that future of marketing belongs to new media innovations and internet. Search engine marketing is going to play a powerful role in coming years and Google being the major market player will have more impact on e-marketing as well as traditional marketing.

In the following chapter, the general concepts of marketing, e-marketing, E-marketing strategies, Internet marketing, Search marketing, Google’s marketing model will be discussed to give literature support for study of Google’s and search marketing. In Chapter III, the role and progress of Search Engine marketing in United Kingdom will be discussed. This discussion is based on the secondary data research and different policies and strategy analysis. In Chapter IV formulation of hypotheses has taken place. These hypothesises are based on the pre available data and theory literature. Chapter V explains the Methodology used to conduct the research. Research has been conducted with the help of primary and secondary data. The main data collection methods used is email questionnaires, Face to face interviews, Telephonic interviews. In chapter VI author analyses the results of surveys and interviews and conclude with the findings that search engine is making a huge impact on traditional e-marketing. In the last chapter VII author conclude research with some useful recommendations. Author suggests that Google has made the search marketing Do-It-Yourself. It has changed the traditional e-marketing communication model and future is bright for Google and Search engine marketing in United Kingdom, But Google is still need to do more to stay on top of search engine marketing.
